20th August 2004 - Loving the His People

I'm starting to love God's people. And I don't just mean the Christians.

One week of orientation has passed...Many things happened. With all the acting and the participation on my part, I guess I've been placed in the limelight. Suddenly, the Hall became a friendlier place. A place of friendship and a place where people can share their lives with theor neighbours... A place where fond memories of deep conversations in each other's rooms, late suppers that lasts long because of the prescence of good company and good conversation.... I must say I never realised this was present before...

As much as orientation was a grueling and at times mindless; even boring experience, it fused many of the seniors together. Especially when it came to the Block suppers and Initiations. The fusion forced us to place our values and ideas up front. We questioned old traditions and emplaced new ones. Suddenly, we start to own this place.

And this got me thinking, what would happen when school term starts? And should I stay on or should I leave? I wonder if the close bonds will persist with the pressures of academic expectations. Expectations set by ourselves, the school and even our parents. Will we share our hopes and dreams with one another? Support one another when time comes?

My conclusion lies in the question I must learn to ask as often as the sun shall rise to signify the beginning of the day:
Only if God is in the picture then perhaps these would persist into an eternity. For let not Man break what God has already established.

I have found that the bonds of human friendship have the potential for degredation and deprecitaion with time and diminshed contact. Yet the bonds established by the love of Christ never seem to wane indefintely. Jesus said "By your love for one another the world will know that you are my disciples". Perhaps these are the friendships that will persist.

Yet here is my heart: When I think of the destiny that awaits those whose hearts are not set on the promise of the cross; a deep urge and conviction compels me to want to proclaim to all these new friends the love of Christ and the power of His resurrection in our lives. The more I know my friends the more I want to give them the best. I have tried to be of help to all the year ones and even exchange students as much as I can. Yet my deepest longing is to share the love that my Lord has in store for them.

I wish I could open up my heart. Cut through all my fears of rejection and images of their contorted faces if they hear of Christ's gospel. I am NOT ASHAMED of the gospel for it is indeed the salvation of Man.

Yet my lips are weak to profess my hopes and dreams. My loves and my heart withdraws and reveals not the grace that has been so abundant in my life in Christ Jesus.

I want to see the power of the resurrection in my life. The full release God's power in me. For I know. And in this I have faith, there were I to yield in total surrender to my King; there I will find Him waiting. And there will I hear "My good and faithful servant"

Yet I shudder to think the countless times I have rejected the call. When the richness of His Gospel remains stuck at my throat. When my sinful will, hinders the full release of His Word. I tell you I will have it NO MORE!!!

My Lord! Take my hands, my lips and my feet. Use them as you will. I will see your goodness in the land of the living. I will wait for you oh Lord. I will wait.

Show your glory here! Reveal your power and your might! The full release of your anoiting upon your people of this Hall. Humble and break us as we all pray. That not our will but your will be done.

Let Your Kingdom be established in Hall as it is in Heaven. Let my new friends whom I dearly love see your power and love in their lives. Save them and revive us all!

For I am starting to love them as You love them....
